Obituary of Faye Johnson
LAKE WATEREE – Funeral service to celebrate the life of Faye Nichols Johnson, 87, will be held Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. at St. John’s United Methodist Church, 45 Roseborough Rd, Lugoff, with burial to follow in Fort Jackson National Cemetery. The Rev. Michael Leonhart and the Rev. Barbee Parsons will officiate. The family will receive friends Tuesday 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. prior to the service in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to St. John’s United Methodist Church Building Fund, 45 Roseborough Road, Lugoff, S.C. 29078.
Mrs. Johnson, wife of the late Calvin Coolidge Johnson, died Saturday, January 4, 2014 at Providence Hospital in Columbia. Born in Mt. Holly, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Earl Mason and Gertrude Toomey Nichols. She was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Wateree Home Owners Association (WHOA), and enjoyed reading, working cross word puzzles and spending time with family.
Surviving are her sons, Calvin Chris Johnson (Mary Bess) of Lugoff and Dr. Joel Earl Johnson (Pamela) of Columbia; brothers, James W. Nichols (Betty) of Georgetown and Dennis R. Nichols of Lake Wateree; 5 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a sister, Nell Rose Nichols Moore; and a brother, Earl Mason Nichols Jr.
