Obituary of Jean West Newman

LUGOFF – A service to celebrate the life of Jean West Newman, 89, will be held on Thursday at 3:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home with burial to follow in Quaker Cemetery.  The Rev. Jackie Knight and the Rev. Greg Sweet will officiate.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Lugoff First Baptist Church.

    Mrs. Newman passed away on Tuesday, March 30, 2021.  Born in Kershaw, S.C. she was the daughter of the late John Matthew West and Juanita Truesdale West. She was a former owner of Jean Newman Realtors and a member of Lugoff First Baptist Church.  She was a former member of Lugoff Garden Club, and enjoyed cooking and flower gardening.

    Surviving is her husband, Milledge Byron Newman; children, Dianne Newman Kaehler (David), Myron Millicent Newman (Alisa), Ronnie Matthew Newman, and Gregory Scott Newman (Karen); 4 grandchildren and 3 great-children; brother, Freddie West. She was predeceased by her grandson, Dru Hunter; and siblings, Hilda West Bridges and William T. West.
