Obituary of Chover J. Baskin

BETHUNE – A private family service for Chover John Baskin, 82, will be held at Bethel Baptist Church with burial Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery. 

     Mr. Baskin, husband of the late Lettie Mae Baskin, passed away on Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at KershawHealth.  Born in Bethune, he was the son of the late Jessie Eugene and Lillie Mae Gainey Baskin.  He was a member of Bethel Hill Baptist Church where he served as chairman of the deacons.  He was also a member of the Lions Club in Bethune and served as Vice President of the Bethune Rural Water Board.  He enjoyed gardening, farming and brick masonry.

    Surviving are his sons, Calvin Baskin, Clifton Baskin, Rhenard Baskin (Franchon) and Rodney Baskin; daughters, Dedra Baskin and Cicely Baskin; sisters, Willa Alston, Beatrice Baskin and Teressa Jett; brothers, Murdock Baskin and Ronald Baskin; sisters-in-law, Joan Hudson, Annie Baskin and Jessie Simon; grandchildren, Rhenard, Dimaggio, Courtney, Shona, Zhane, Kiyomi, Martel, Christian and Rylan; and great-grandchildren, Aniyah, Josiah, Kayden, Serenity, Zaiden, DJ, Londyn, Zymeria, Harmony and Amelia.
