Obituary of James Wilbur Hammond
James Wilbur Hammond, 81, of Elgin, passed away on Friday, March 12, 2021. He was the son of the late Cora Bell Hammond Medlin. James spent 50 years in the truck driving industry. He loved fishing, animals, motorcycles, and old westerns. He will be deeply missed by all his family and friends.
He is survived by his son, Bryan Hammond (Kim) of Florida; daughter, Barbie Spence (Duane) of Lugoff; sister, Frances Summerton of Elgin; and brother, Thomas Medlin (JoAnn) of Elgin; as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his mother, James was preceded in death by his brother, Woodrow Medlin; sister, Dale Brazell; and his granddaughter, Susan Salmond.
The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.
