CAMDEN – A funeral service to celebrate the life of Harold Hoyt “Hal” Segars, Jr., 56, will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Beulah United Methodist Church, Camden, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The Rev. Patricia Amick will officiate. The family will receive friends Saturday from 4-6 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, and also at the church following the services. Hal, beloved husband of Elizabeth Ardis “Beth” Segars, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, January 1, 2014. Born in Sumter, S.C., he was the son of the late Harold, Sr. and Anne Gentry Segars. He enjoyed Beth’s excellent cooking and was quite a fisherman. Hal was an avid fan of the Carolina Gamecocks. Surviving in addition of his wife of 9 years are his children, Harold H. “Zeke” Segars III (Helena) and Sarah Segars; sister, Liz Walker (Gerald); brother, Jimmy Segars; nephews, Jim and Ben Segars; and 3 grandchildren. The family wishes to express their gratitude to Bertha Lawton who provided compassionate care for Hal and to the Agape Hospice Team, Cindy Steen, Kayla Corbett, and others who were a blessing to Hal and the family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Beulah United Methodist Church or Agape Hospice.
