Obituary of Sarah Anne Dyson Jarvis

Sarah Anne Dyson Jarvis of Columbia, 77, passed peacefully from this life into eternal life on Monday, March 1st, 2021. Anne is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Donald E. Jarvis. Born in Columbia, she was the daughter of the late Colie Livingston Dyson, Sr. and Sarah Adams Dyson. Anne was also predeceased by her brother Colie Livingston Dyson, Jr. Anne is survived by her niece, Ashby Sanders (Steve); nephew, Trey Dyson (Angela); and great-nieces and nephews that were like grandchildren to her, Sadie, Cole, and Kylie Sanders and Sarah Louise and Bryce Dyson; stepdaughter, Alisa Birmingham (Craig); grandchildren, Joshua, Jordan and Josiah; and great grandchildren, Theodore and Maddox. Anne also had numerous friends and church family that referred to her as “Grannie Annie,” and she loved them as family.

Anne was a native of Columbia, SC and graduated from Dreher High School in 1961. Anne wanted to share all Columbia had to offer with the community, so she worked in banking for over 25 years and real estate towards the end of her career. Anne ran the Newcomers Department at various places such as South Carolina National Bank and Wachovia Bank. She truly had a passion for welcoming new families to her beloved hometown. Throughout her years of professional service and personal relationships, her faith in Jesus was always the most important thing in her life. Her passion was to share His love with everyone she knew. Anne was an active member of Harvest Baptist Church in Lugoff, SC and loved her church family dearly.

A graveside service will be held at 2p.m. Friday, March 5, 2021, at Elmwood Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Columbia, SC. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made in honor of Sarah Anne Dyson Jarvis, to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation or the American Heart Association.

Anne’s family sends sincere thanks to all her caregivers, friends, church family, and everyone that has supported and cared for her over the past years.
