Obituary of Heyward Barnwell Jacobs

ELGIN– A graveside service for Heyward Barnwell Jacobs, 78, will be held Sunday at 3:30 p.m. in Palabra de Vida Santidad Pentecostal Church Cemetery, 109 Roseberry Road, Columbia, S.C. 29223. The Rev. Judith Luke will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Elgin Congregational Holiness Church.

    Mr. Jacobs, husband of the late Naomi Lee Jacobs, passed away Saturday, December 19, 2020. Born in Columbia, he was a son of the late Alonzo and Bertha LeGrand Jacobs. Heyward was a member of Elgin Congregational Holiness Church and was a credentialed minister of Congregational Holiness Conference. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

    Surviving are his sons, Jeff Jacobs (Janice) of Elgin, Stuart Jacobs (Diana) of Conway; siblings, Jewel Easler (Bryan) of Hendersonville, N.C., Harris Jacobs of Columbia, Patsy Campbell of Columbia, Emily Benton (Bruce) of Monroe, N.C., Ronnie Jacobs (Kathy) of Elgin; 10 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife; a son, Tony Jacobs; and a granddaughter, Diana Jacobs.
