Obituary of Rita Maria Hobi

ELGIN – Funeral services for Rita Maria Hobi, 65, will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Stroke Foundation.

    Mrs. Hobi passed away Monday, November 23, 2020. Born in Chur, Switzerland, she was a daughter of the late Heinrich and Babette Andreoli. Mrs. Hobi was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church, Sumter, S.C. She was active in the YMCA, SPCA, the Junior Welfare League and often volunteered at Tuomey Hospital, Sumter, S.C. She enjoyed running marathons, exercising, golfing and spending time outdoors working in her garden.

    Surviving are her husband of 42 years, Guido Josef Hobi; sons, Marco Hobi of Columbia, Patrick Hobi (Kara) of Greenville; and a sister, Lea Scarpetti of Switzerland. She was predeceased by 2 brothers.
