LUGOFF – A time of gathering to celebrate the life of Opal Harvell Cooper, 68, will be held Saturday from 3:30 – 5:30 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Mrs. Cooper passed away Wednesday, November 4, 2020. Born in Columbia, she was a daughter of the late Laura Burris. Mrs. Cooper enjoyed sewing and reading. Surviving are her husband, William “Bill” Cooper; children, Melissa Shattuck (Roger) of Columbia, Paula Hensley, Frank McLeod (Shannon) of Valdes, N.C.; a brother, Walter Burris (Sue) of Lugoff; sister, Margaret Garner of Winnsboro; 5 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Rebecca McLeod Cox.
