LUGOFF – Betty Janes Clackum, born July 18, 1929, in Grovania, Houston County, Georgia, died on October 30, 2020 after contracting COVID-19 while living at Springdale Health Care Center. She was the daughter of the late Warren Rembert and Allie Mae Carlisle Chilton. Mrs. Clackum was a member of Lugoff First Baptist Church. Surviving are her children, Chris Patrick Clackum, his wife Kamela and their children; Alexandra, Benjamin, Sterling and Remington of Lugoff; and Doyle Rembert Clackum of Augusta, GA. She is also survived by her sister, Charlicie Chessor of Marietta, GA and other grandchildren, great-grandchildren; and her dear friends, Judy and Jerry Setzer. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, James Doyle “Red” Clackum; daughter, Janice Gwen Humphries; sister, Gloria Wilbur; and brothers, Ray Chilton, Jerry Chilton, Warren Chilton, and Rex Chilton. Visitation at Powers Funeral Home will be private. A graveside service will be held Monday at 1:00 p.m. in Kennesaw Memorial Park, Marietta, GA.
