I have many fond memories of Herman when he attended Harvest Baptist Church. He played guitar in our Hee Haw band and could hit a softball farther than I had ever seen. He was always willing to help. Pastor Bill Dulaney

Mr. Herman was a rugged, strong, sweet and gentle man. He will be greatly miss by the staff of FDTC libraries. When the library moved into the 200 building (Welding Dept), he made our transition alot easier. He made the best biscuits and cakes we've ever tasted. During his breaks from his students, he would play the piano and sing. Rest in Peace Mr. Herman. Staff of Florence Darlington Technical College Libraries

We met at work in 1983 on a day that I was a little busy. I delayed answering his question so he pulled me thru a window and held me ,at 195 lbs by my head off the floor until I answered his question. Over time we became fast friends. He introduced me to his wife as his illegitimate son-I don’t think he ever told her any different. Herman loved life and his word was his bond. To describe the man I knew is hard but friend , inventor , fun loving, intelligent/brilliant in a common sense kind of way, problem solver, had your back thru thick and thin, did I say friend, treated everyone the same Vice President to janitor, scared of nothing, fisherman,hunter, did I say friend. Rest In Peace my friend-you will be missed. Prayers and thoughts for the family.

Always enjoyed talking and working with Herman while at Robinson. He would also have a joke or some light hearted humor to say. Loved when he would cook and invite people outside the mechanical shop to join in. His special steak sauce was great and his food was outstanding. Hope to eat one of his meals when I see him again up in heaven. R.I.P. my friend and sending condolences to the family.ero
