Obituary of Mallary Ogden
LUGOFF – Funeral service with military honors for Mallary “Roy” Ogden, 70, will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home with burial to follow in Greenhaven Memorial Gardens. The Rev. John Mims will officiate. The family will receive friends Sunday 12:30 – 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mr. Ogden, husband of the late Victoria Crews Ogden, died Thursday, November 21, 2013. Born in Beauregard Parrish, La., he was the son of the late Mallory Zacria Ogden and Alice Lizzie Wilson Ogden. He retired from the United States Army as a First Sergeant. He served in Vietnam, Germany and several U.S. Post. He received the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal, two Army Commendation Medals, Air Medal and seven Good Conduct Medals. He also retired from Civil Service.
A Louisiana native, he and his wife relocated in Lugoff, S.C. in 1983 after serving and living all over the world with the United States Army. He was a member of the American Legion Post 195.
Surviving are his son, Larry Ogden of Lugoff; daughter, Robin D. Hyman (Michael Weatherford) of Lugoff; sisters, Audrey “Faye” Funderburg of Pineville, La. and Dorothy “Dot” Harrimon (Marion) of Rosepine, La.; brothers-in-law, Victor Lloyd Crews (Mary) and Randy Crews (Linda); one grandson, Steven David Ogden; and numerous nieces and nephews.
