CAMDEN – Mr. Garfield Tucker, Jr., of Kirkwood in Camden, S.C. has received his wings to glory. Mr. Garfield, AKA “Jr.,” is the oldest son of the late Garfield “Tam” Tucker, Sr. and Wennie Massey Tucker. He is preceded in death by his lovely wife, Rev. Virginia Tucker; children, Larry, Kent, Deborah-Ann, Faye; a sister, Susie; brothers, Cloee, Cleveland, Johnnie; grandsons, Joseph I, II, Antonio; and a close great-grandson, Basim. Mr. Garfield, Jr. joined Sanders Creek Baptist Church at an early age and enjoyed attending there and later after marriage, enjoyed attending Mt. Zion Baptist (Kirkwood) Church and Greater Faith and Joy Church. He was loved by everyone who knew him. He was a very hard worker and taught all of his family to work and provide for themselves. He was like a chef in the kitchen, and helped teach each of his children how to be great cooks. He received several plagues of outstanding employee recognition during his many years of employment, before his retirement. Mr. Garfield Jr. leaves to cherish his memories, 7 children – Greta Attoh, Carmen Alston, Susan Robertson, Vanessa McClintock, Donald Tucker Eugene Simpkins, and Elaine Stokes; 1 sister, Ruby Tucker; grandchildren – Charmaine, Latashia; Shaina, Alaina, Adei; Vanessa-Anne, Jadae, Squire; Michael, Olajide, Brodney; LaShanda; Jeanette, David; Eugene II, Nichelle, William; great-grands – Ch’Vonne, Joy, Ezekial, Daniel; Jeremiah, Grace, Gabriel; Caija; Malayaja, Maquita, Makiyah; Brianna; several other great-grands, daughters-in-law, sons-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends. Funeral service will be held on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home in Lugoff with burial to follow in Sanders Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
