I remember finally getting to meet Mr Steve after about What seemed like a month of being in the hospital in ICU. He was finally moved to a hospital room. So I could finally get to meet this very, sweet & precious man. We were greeted with What seemed to be a 1/2 smile due to all the the stress and trauma he had suffered in the past month When he caught the aroma of fried seafood that we brought into his hospital room, his face lit up a little more. He smiled as we talked about the Lord and I remember asking Mr Steve were he was born . He answer was Laurinburg,SC. It was then I exclaimed “ Then I know you grew up on some Fine Southern Gospel Music” and with that Mr. Steve said with all pride, “I shore did. I’ll guarantee that”
The last time I had the pleasure of seeing him and and Mrs Demetia again was at the baptism of their grandson, Bentley. His son, Zachary “Zach” had brought both his parents, wheel chair and all , to see the his Grandson publicly profess his love and faith in Jesus Christ. This fortunately was at my home church. Lugoff First Baptist Church.
Until we meet again in heaven, You have fought the good fight.
