Born in Lugoff, he was the son of the late Tillman Murphy and Linda Scott English. Surviving are his daughters, Tess Anderson and Annette Johnson; sisters, Geneva Wood, Louree Hayne, Thelma Ware, Maggie Murphy, and Margaret McMillan; brothers, Jack Scott and Frank Scott; and 1 grandchild.
