ELGIN – A funeral service for Edna Marie Whitaker, 87, will be held on Friday, January 17, 2020 at 2pm at Powers Funeral Home, with a visitation 1hr prior. The Rev. Tim Shirley will officiate. Burial will follow the service in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Mrs. Whitaker, wife of the late MSG Wassie E. Whitaker, USA, Ret., passed away Monday, January 13, 2020. Born in Bedford, IN, she was a daughter of the late William C. Perry and Ollie Cobb Perry. Mrs. Whitaker was a member of Lugoff Church of God. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, crafts, reading and family gatherings. Surviving are her children, Denise McPherson, Bill Whitaker (Cathy), Robin J. Storey (Tom) and Dana Whitaker Epps (Jimmy); siblings, Lucy Mitchell and Larry Perry; 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and a great great-grandchild. She was predeceased by her son, Steven Whitaker; and siblings, Sally Roth, Irene Stewart, Burchill Perry, John Perry, Earl Perry and Charles Perry.
