ELGIN – Funeral service for Johnny “Sonnyboy” Edward Jackson, Sr. 74, will be held on Friday, January 10 at 2:00 p.m., with a visitation 1hr prior, at Trinity Baptist Church. Pastor Chuck Everett will officiate. Burial will follow the service in Hardshell Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Sonnyboy passed away on Monday, January 6, 2020. Born in Camden, he was the son of the late James Talmadge Jackson and Margaret Mattox Jackson. He loved his family, fishing, carpentry work and his red pickup truck. Surviving is his wife of 53 years, Alice Kay Gunn Jackson; children, Tammy Jackson and Johnny Jackson, Jr.; grandchildren, Heather, Christopher and Bryson. He was predeceased by his siblings, Thelma Gates, Jeanette Branham, James Marshall, Joyce Branham and Delores Powers. The family would like to thank the nursing staff of KershawHealth and hospice.
