Obituary of Linda K. Young

BISHOPVILLE – Funeral service for Linda Kennington Young, 64, will be held on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church in Bishopville with burial to follow in Bethune Baptist Cemetery in Bethune.  The Rev. Stephen Sanderson will officiate.  The family will receive friends Friday 5-7 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff.  Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church Building Fund.

    Linda Young, wife of the late Jimmy Heyward Young, passed away on Wednesday, November 20, 2019.  Born in Kershaw County, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Boykin and Ollie Jumell McGee Kennington.  She retired from Kershaw County School District where she was a bus driver for over 20 years.  She was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church.  She also enjoyed horseback riding, camping, fishing, going to the beach and playing the piano.

    Surviving are her stepchildren, Charles Richard Self (Linda), Douglas M. Self (Jean), Patrick Young (Loretta), and Tammy Inman; brother, Dale Kennington (Loretta); sister, Debra Boan; sisters-in-law, Lynn Kennington and Lisa Kennington; grandchildren, Amanda Self, Marti Phillips (Steve), Matthew Self, P.J. Young, Allie Niven and Jimmy Inman; and great-grandchildren, Thaddeus Phillips and Nami Niven.  She was predeceased by her first husband, Richard Self; and brothers, Thomas Kennington and Glennwood Kennington; and sister, Denise Shirley.
