Obituary of Doris Cooke Blakely

LUGOFF – A time of gathering to celebrate the life of Doris Cooke Blakely, 99, will be held on Sunday from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home.  Private burial will be held in Fort Jackson National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice. 

Mrs. Blakely, wife of the late Walter R. Blakely, passed away on Wednesday, October 30, 2019.  Born in Greenville, she was the daughter of the late Sam and Vadis Tinsley Cooke. 

Surviving are her daughter, Brenda Blakely Kelley; brother, Robert Cook; sister, Vivian Marks; grandchildren, Timothy R. Kelley, Erin Mays Burris (Dale), and Jennifer L. Kelley; and 5 great-grandchildren.  She was predeceased by 6 siblings.
