Obituary of Margaret C. Nelson

CAMDEN – Funeral service for Margaret Catoe Nelson, 90, will be held on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at DeKalb Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.

   Mrs. Nelson passed away on Wednesday, October 30, 2019.  Born in Kershaw County, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Columbus and Ida Mae McManus Catoe.  She was a graduate of Baron DeKalb High School and Columbia Commercial College where she received a Secretarial Business Degree.  She retired from banking after 25 years. 

    Mrs. Nelson was a lifetime member of DeKalb Baptist Church having served as WMU director, secretary-treasurer, Sunday School Teacher, and organized the first seniors group.  She was a member of Leslie Zemp Chapter OES and former member of BPW of Camden.

    Surviving are her husband, Jesse Cunningham “J.C.” Nelson; son, Ronnie A. Nelson (Vicki) of Camden; and grandson, Russell A. Nelson (Rhonda).  She was predeceased by her siblings, Palmer Catoe, Thomas C. Catoe, Maude Nelson, Edna Thomas, Mable Davis and Nettie Catoe.
