Obituary of Haley Mackenzie Gates

ELGIN – A funeral service for Haley Mackenzie Gates, 18, will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Harmony Baptist Church with burial to follow in Gates Cemetery. The Rev. Dan Griffin will officiate. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home.

    Haley passed away Saturday, August 31, 2019. Born in Columbia, she was a daughter of Jamie Blair Gates and Rebecca Lynn Hyatt. Haley was a member of Harmony Baptist Church. She enjoyed singing, dancing and taking pictures.

    Surviving are her parents, Jamie Gates (Ashley Osment) and Rebecca Hyatt (Timothy Young); siblings, Chauncey Wilson, Jaida Gates, Brayden Jackson, Laykenn Gates, Timothy Cash Young; paternal grandparents, Kevin Gates and Nancy Dutille; and maternal grandmother, Donna Hyatt; and numerous other relatives. She was predeceased by her maternal grandfather, Tommy Hyatt.
