Obituary of John G. Alston

ELGIN – A funeral service for John G. Alston, 73, will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Powers Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Friday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

    Mr. Alston, husband of the late Nettie Alston, passed away Monday, July 22, 2019. Born in Baltimore, MD, he was a son of the late Horace and Sophia Brown Alston. Mr. Alston was a member of Lee Chapel in Littleton, N.C. where he served faithfully. He enjoyed fishing and being involved with the church.

    Surviving are his children, Delores Alston, Michelle Alston, Brenda Allen, Kimberly Ames, Yvette Alston; sisters, Mary L. Yates, Etheline Ferebee; 9 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by siblings, Horace Alston, Joseph Alston, Nancy Ricks, and Bessie Clemons.
