I cannot imagine growing up without the Peake Family in Lugoff. Dinners at and with Mr. Olin and Mrs. Minnie and oh those glorious Gardner Gatherings at Ms. Gardner's house. So large we had them outside so everyone could be Together one big long long huge table of GOODNESS!! Christian FAMILY fellowship. We will never forget their whole FAMILY, as Mr. Dewitt included welcoming us there. How quickly Amy and I became close and reunited years later. How I remember Darlene and Teresa helping us from Day #1. Mrs. Minnie teaching us in Sunday School; and then Dewitt teaching us later on. On Wednesday's faithfully Mrs. Darlene took on what we called then Acteens aka Awana, WMU, and Mission Friends as later known.
My PARENTS LOVED the PEAKES. As my Father would enter PGBC and look for Brother Olin, who he knew he could count on, (among others, Mr. Huntley, Mr. Jack, Mr. Jackie, Mrs. Rhonda too many to name).
On a more personal note here I need to personally say that Teresa (and Darlene), both, had deep impacts on my childhood. They kindly took me in as one of their own. Just happens that way with the Preacher's Kid's right? Teresa driving and Darlene riding next to her in the front seats me always behind them. Watching them wanting to be like them doing what they were doing and wanting to grow up so. So many countless trips to the beaches of SC. Every summer! So kindly and unselfishly of their time. Even after Darlene (what a Beautiful BRIDE she was) married STILL there was sis' Teresa still driving us, all, Amy riding beside me and Jenny when she could. Kristi, then came Stephanie and Alisha, Jill, Josh. My point is Teresa always treated us the same was always THERE; and always enjoying our company making us feel that she wanted to be with us, longed to, and never letting us forget that I know the pure grieving that has gone on when Mr. Olin, Mr. DEWITT, Mrs. Minnie, and Baby Sis, AMY left us just for a temporary time. Let us not forget what each of them, and their lives taught us in our Faith, in our Christianity, in our Family, and in Life.
"THOSE WE LOVE DON'T GO AWAY
THEY WALK BESIDE US EVERYDAY
UNSEEN, UNHEARD, BUT ALWAYS NEAR,
STILL LOVED, STILL MISSED, and VERY DEAR."

I am so glad we reconnected at Pine Grove Baptist and shared memories of all the years we worked together at Oxford Industries. Lots of drama, but also lots of good times. You will truly be missed. My prayers go out to your family.
