Obituary of Willie E. Drakeford

BETHUNE – Funeral service for The Rev. Willie Edward Drakeford, 88, will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Bethel Hill Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends Friday, 5-7 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home.

    Rev. Drakeford passed away at home on Friday, June 7, 2019.  Born in Bethune, he was the son of the late William and Cora Johnson Drakeford.  He served in the United States Arm during the Korean Conflict and received his Bachelor’s Degree from South Carolina State University in 1966.  He was an Associate Pastor of Bethel Hill Baptist Church in Bethune and loved studying and teaching God’s Word.  Mr. Drakeford was a Mason and Shriner and Former baseball coach.  He enjoyed fishing but most of al being with his family.

   Surviving are his wife, Louvenia Patricia Harrison “Vickie” Drakeford; children, Dale Ellis Drakeford (Willet) of Lamar, Vivian Denise Drakeford Reed of Fayetteville, Humphrey Gustavais Drakeford (Sharon) of Kankakee, Ill.., and Harrison Jerome Drakeford (Tamma) of Bethune; 12 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
