ELGIN – Funeral services for Brinton Maurice Motley, 73, will be held Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at Faith Church of the Nazarene with burial to follow in Union Baptist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Scott Crandall the Rev. Bob Midgette will officiate. The family will receive friends Saturday from 5-7 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Faith Church of the Nazarene, or to Gideons International. Mr. Motley passed away Friday, September 20, 2013. Born in Pontiac, he was a son of the late John Glenn and Lizzie Mae Ross Motley. Mr. Motley was a member of Faith Church of the Nazarene. He enjoyed farming and gardening. Surviving are his wife of 28 years, Dorothy Nelson Motley; son, Brint Motley (Erica) of Lexington; daughters, Kim Tyson of Elgin, Donna Boone of Elgin, Charlene Boone of Camden; brothers, Sammy Motley (Minnie) of Elgin, Frank Motley (Ann) of Elgin; sisters, Shirley Goff of Camden, Mary Johnson of Elgin, Fannie Miles (Kenny) of Lugoff, Carolyn Hightower (Elmo) of Elgin; 5 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by brothers, Claude Motley, Harold Motley, Olin Motley; and sisters, Ruby Kelly, and Sylvia Flynn.
