Obituary of Otis Dale Gilmer

ELGIN – A graveside service for Otis Dale Gilmer, 55, will be held Thursday at 10:00 a.m. in Hillcrest Baptist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Jerry Lee will officiate. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

    Mr. Gilmer passed away Saturday, June 1, 2019. Born in Columbia, he was a son of the late Otis Brown Gilmer and Shirley Cartrette Gilmer. Mr. Gilmer was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.

    Surviving are his wife of 16 years, Benita Thomley Gilmer; children, Amber Renee Gilmer of Lexington, Kimberly Garbade (Paul) of Lugoff, William Lee (Rebecca) of Lugoff; and grandchildren, Elizabeth, Blake, Brady, Madison, Benjamin, Harrison, Jaxson, Hayley and Paul. He was predeceased by a sister, Pauline Self.
