Obituary of James Ray Boykin

RIDGEWAY – A memorial service for James Ray Boykin, 70, will by held Saturday, June 8, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Bishop Robert Christiansen will officiate. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2-3 p.m. at the church.

    Ray passed away Thursday, May 30, 2019. Born in Lee County, he was a son of the late Ollie Boykin and Lottie Vermell Boykin. Ray was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He enjoyed going to the lake, water skiing, fishing, and spending time with his friends and family.

    Surviving are his wife of 38 years, Virginia “Ginny” Boykin; children, April "April-June" Lee of Elgin, Carol Ann Porter of Columbia; grandchildren, Tiffany “Pumpkin” Lee, Connor Lee, Elizabeth Cannaday, Jonathan Porter; great-grandchild, Winsten James Sharpe; and siblings, Joe Boykin (Janet) and Gayle Mogridge (Fred). He was predeceased by brothers, Richard “Rickey” Boykin, Sr., and Vernon Boykin.
