ELGIN – Funeral service for Elisanta Casiano, 66, will be held Friday at 2:00 p.m. at Trinity Baptist Church with burial to follow in Greenhaven Memorial Gardens. The Dr. Charles Everett will officiate. The family will receive friends Thursday 6-8 p.m. at Trinity Baptist Church and one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity Baptist Church Playground, 1062 Ridgeway Road, Lugoff, S.C. 29078. Mrs. Casiano passed away on Sunday, September 15, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Puerto Rico, she was the daughter of the late Juan Mendez and Mercedes Maldonado. She retired from the Navy Exchange Service Command. Mrs. Casiano was a member of Trinity Baptist Church where she was very active in Helping Hands, Missions, Vacation Bible School and the Golden Trininites. She enjoyed sewing and crafts. Surviving are her husband of 30 years, Edgardo Casiano; son, Louis Robert Torres of Lugoff; daughter, Madalyn Elisa Vega (Joseph) of Freehold, N.J.; brother, Juan Mendez, Jr.; sisters, Margarita Cebrian and Mirta Mendez; and grandchildren, Vanessa Marie Torres and Gabriel Enrique Miranda. She was predeceased by a brother, Carlos Mendez.
