Obituary of Marcene A. Roberts

LUGOFF – A service to celebrate the life of Marcene Adams Roberts, 73, will be held on Wednesday, at 11:00 a.m. at International Praise Church of God, 5071 Percival Road, Elgin, S.C. with entombment to follow in Elmwood Mausoleum, Columbia.  The Rev. B. Doyle Roberts and the Rev. Burch Kelly will officiate.  The family will receive family and friends Tuesday 6-8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to International Praise Church of God.

    Mrs. Roberts passed away at home surrounded by her family on Saturday, January 26, 2019.  Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Clarence E. Adams and Ruby Arant Parker.  She retired from DuPont where she was a supervisor and also worked as an insurance agent for American General Life Insurance Company.  She was a devoted Christian and member of International Praise Church of God.  She had an outgoing spirit and enjoyed going to the beach.  Mrs. Roberts’s greatest passion was loving and nurturing her family especially her grandchildren.

    Surviving are her husband of 55 years, Bobby Thomas Roberts; children, Billy Ray Roberts (Denise) of Lugoff, Christopher Saul Roberts of Oceanside, CA, Joey L. Roberts, Sr. of Westville, B. Doyle Roberts (Sylvia) of Columbia and Jamie Dean Roberts (Kristin) of Lugoff; 18 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.  She was predeceased by brothers, Edward Adams, Carroll Ray Adams and James David Adams; and 1 grandson, Bobby Doyle Roberts, Jr.
