Obituary of Rev. Carl R. Hollis

RIDGEWAY – A service to celebrate the life of Carl Ray Hollis, 64, will be held on Sunday at 4:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

    Rev. Hollis passed away on Thursday, January 10, 2019.  Born in Columbia, he was the son of the late James Eugene Hollis Sr. and Betty Jordan Hollis.  He was an Electrician at the Jenkinsville Powers Plant.  Rev. Hollis pastored in local churches and more recently ministered on Sundays at Pinedale Nursing Center.  He enjoyed witnessing to others about Jesus Christ and reading the Bible.  Rev. Hollis loved his family dearly and cherished the time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandsons.

    Surviving are his wife of 40 years, Karen C. Hollis; daughter, Tammy H. Williams (Christopher) of Elgin; brothers, Richard Eugene Hollis (Blair), Gary D. Hollis (Dorothy) and Danny Wayne Hollis (Cathy); sister-in-law, Deanne’ Hollis; grandchildren, Christy Ann Hurst and Carlton Tyler Hurst; and great-grandchildren, Blaynn Crout, Landynn Crout and Cash Crout.  He was predeceased by a brother, Paul Hollis.
