Obituary of Herman Jones, Sr.
KERSHAW – Funeral service for Herman E. Jones, Sr., 85, will be held on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at DeKalb Baptist Church with burial to follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The Rev. Keith Coates will officiate. The family will receive friends Saturday 6-8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Arthritis Foundation or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
Mr. Jones, husband of the late Arlene King Jones, passed away at home on Tuesday, January 8, 2019. Born in Bethune, he was the son of the late Walter Vernon Jones Sr. and Mattie Holland Jones. He was the owner and operator of Jones Logging for 40 years. He enjoyed working on his farm raising cattle and hay. Mr. Jones loved and was loved by all who knew him. He is walking through Heaven surveying the beauty of God’s glory.
Surviving are his children, Herman E. Jones, Jr. (Judith) of McGeetown, Karen Jones Pate (Kim) of Lake Wateree, and Judy M. Jones (Anthony) of Conway; 6 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by brothers, Harry Jones, Walter Jones, C.W. Jones, Ernest Jones and Jesse Jones; and sisters, Lillie Mae Moseley, Adore Roberts and Genevia Mosier.
