LUGOFF – Funeral service for Mazell Elizabeth Martin Peake Cook, 82, will be held Tuesday at 3:00 pm at Spears Creek Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The Rev. Greg Sweet will officiate. The family will receive friends Monday 5:00-7:00 pm at Powers Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Spears Creek Baptist Church Building Fund, 116 Spears Creek Church Lane, Elgin, S.C. 29045. Mrs. Cook, wife of the late Harvey Cook died Saturday, August 31, 2013. Born in Columbia, she was the daughter of the late Talley and Verta Sullivan Martin. She owned and operated Peake’s Grocery “Sleepy Hollow”. After retirement she spent her time helping raise her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mrs. Cook loved traveling with both family and senior’s group from Spears Creek Baptist Church. She enjoyed eating breakfast daily at Bojangles in Elgin with her friends. Surviving are her children, Pauline Coleman LeGrand (Wayne) of Lugoff, Stevie Peake (Jenny) of Lugoff and Wanda Blake (Larry) of Lugoff; step-children, Melanie Cook Coleman and Melissa Cook Miller; brother, Tommy Martin; sister, Edith Frost; grandchildren, Troy Coleman, Danny Peake, Dennis Peake, Tracey Coleman Bleckler, Stacey Coleman Bacon, Tony Coleman, Chris Peake, Mark Coleman, Jana Peake Smith, Cody Peake and Adam Legrand; 8 step-grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Frankie Peake; brothers, J.C. Martin, Furman Martin, Marvin Martin and Gerald Martin; and sister, Florine Peake.
