Obituary of Warren Wood
LUGOFF – A service to celebrate the life of Fred Warren Wood, 80, will be held on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Lugoff First Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The Rev. Doug Huntsinger and the Rev. David Robinson will officiate along with pastors of Phoenix Community Church of Atlanta. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be made to Lugoff First Baptist Church or Gideons International.
Mr. Wood, husband of the late Cynthia Williams Wood, passed away at KershawHealth on Monday, December 17, 2018. Born in Anderson, he was the son of the late Marvin and Julia Yeargin Wood. A graduate of Lander College, he served in the United States Air Force and retired as an Industrial Engineer having worked for several manufacturing companies including Kendall and International Paper.
Mr. Wood was a devoted and faithful member of Lugoff First Baptist Church where he was a former Deacon and Sunday School Teacher. He was dedicated to serving his community and was actively involved in the Gideons International and Optimist Club. He was an avid sports fan and loved college football, but his major passion was sharing the Word of God.
Surviving are his son, Michael Warren Wood (Heidi) of Buford, Ga.; grandchildren, Joshua Michael Wood (Erin) of Atlanta and Garrett Evan Wood of Buford, Ga.; and his extended family, Raj, Anita, Satyam and Shivani Dahya of Lugoff. He was predeceased by a brother, Curtis Wood.
