Obituary of Betty Knight Fender
LUGOFF – Funeral services for Betty Knight Fender, 81, will be held Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at Lugoff First Baptist Church, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The Rev. Jimmy Hanf, The Rev. Greg Sweet, and The Rev. Elliot Osowitt will officiate. The family will receive friends Saturday from 5-7 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gideons International, at P.O. Box 664, Lugoff, S.C. 29078, or Hanf Ministries at 22 Trumpet View Ln., Elgin, SC 29045.
Mrs. Fender passed away Thursday, August 29, 2013. Born in Alachua, FL, she was a daughter of the late Herbert and Kathleen Floyd Knight. Mrs. Fender was a member of Lugoff First Baptist Church and a previous member of Williston First Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Gideons Auxiliary, served as the WMU Director, and a mission worker. She loved flowers and gardening.
Surviving are her husband of 62 years, William Frank Fender; son, Donald R. Fender (Kathy) of Afton, VA; daughter, Kay F. Lott (Larry) of Lugoff; grandchildren, Jill E. Fender of Charleston, Mary L. Catoe (Russell) of Lugoff, April L. McCaa (Chip) of Lugoff, Laura L. Paulo (David) of Lugoff; great-grandchildren, Makaylee and Nash Catoe of Lugoff, and Grayson Catoe of Columbia. She was predeceased by 3 sisters and 2 brothers.
