Obituary of Doris Ray Brown

CAMDEN – Funeral service for Doris Brown, 83, will be held on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Hermitage Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery.  The Rev. Mark Hopkins will officiate. The family will receive friends Friday 4-6 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff.   Memorials may be made to Legacy of Faith at Hermitage Baptist Church or Compassionate Care Hospice.

    Mrs. Brown, wife of the late TSGT Herbert Brown (US Air Force Retired), passed away on Wednesday, November 21, 2018.  Born in Cassatt, she was the daughter of the late Belton and Mettie Munn Ray.  She retired as Director of Hermitage Baptist Church Daycare.  She was a faithful member of Hermitage Baptist Church and the Joy Sunday School Class. She enjoyed cake decorating and crafts.

     Surviving are her children, Gene Brown (Janet) of Columbia, Michelle “Misty” Fowler (Marcus) of Lugoff, Phillip Brown (Tracy) of Camden and Brandon Brown of Columbia; brothers, Bobby Stone (Kathy) of Gilbert and David Stone of Elgin; 7 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild.  She was predeceased by a son, Herbert J. “Joey” Brown; and sister, Connie Shoemake.
