Obituary of Yvonne Gates Bright

ELGIN – ON October 29, 2018, Yvonne Gates Bright left her tired body to be with her Lord.  Yvonne was born September 7, 1953 in Columbia, S.C. to the late A.C. Gates and Thelma Gantt Gates. She was married to her best friend, Dennis Edward Bright for 46 years.

    A graduate of Lexington High School class of 1972, she went on to graduate from LaFemme’ Beauty Academy in 1972.  She taught 4 and 5 year old kindergarten at Bible Baptist Christian Academy for 2 years before opening their family business with her husband “Bright Construction” now known as “Convert-A-Deck”.  She had a passion for interior designing.

    Mrs. Bright served in numerous church duties in South Carolina and Georgia.  She loved music, piano and praising her Lord.  She was a member of Harvest Baptist Church in Lugoff.

    Mrs. Bright leaves her loving and devoted husband, Dennis Edward Bright; only child and daughter-in-law, Jason and Shannan Bright of Elgin; 3 grandchildren, Gracie, Madison and Taylor; one sister, Cindy Grigsby (Ronnie); relatives, Joel Bright, Ellen B. Flowers and Sandy Byars; and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents; and her beloved Pomeranian, Amber Elizabeth Bright.

    Remember she was a very loving and caring friend to all who knew her, especially her family.  She will be greatly missed.  Our loss is heavens gain!

    A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, November 4, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. at Harvest Baptist Church, 281 Wildwood Lane, Lugoff, S.C. with a reception to follow in the church fellowship hall.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Association.
