Obituary of Pansy Latham Barfield

LUGOFF – Pansy Latham Barfield, wife of the late Joe Donnie Barfield, Jr. passed away on Monday, October 22, 2018 at Wellmore of Lexington.  She was the daughter of the late William Fred Latham and Ruby Virginia Pettigrew Latham Elkins.

    Mrs. Barfield was born on November 21, 1944, in Abbeville County, but resided most of her life in Lugoff.  Mrs. Barfield was a homemaker and an active member of Trinity Baptist Church and Mixed Blessings Sunday School Class.  She had a passion for genealogy and was an avid reader.  Her life was dedicated to being a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, which were her three greatest joys.  Her proudest moments were spent with her children and her four grandsons.

    Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, William Gregory “Gregg” and Brenda O'Quinn Barfield; a daughter and son-in-law, Christy Marie and Marvin Leroy Allen, Jr.; grandchildren, Matthew Brian and his wife, Savana Wade Barfield of Kansas City, MO,, Nathan Ryan Barfield, Joshua Marvin Allen and Dillon Latham Allen, all of Lugoff; sister and brother-in-law, Patricia Latham and James “Jim” Davis of Coatesville, Pa.; two sisters-in-law, Peggy Latham of Lugoff and Ruby Lowe and her husband, Richard of Aiken, S.C..  Her parents, a brother, William Roger Latham, and stepfather, Frank S. Elkins preceded her in death.

    “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.  Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.” 2 Timothy 4: 7-8.

    Visitation will be held on Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff.  Funeral service will be held on Friday at 3:00 p.m. at Trinity Baptist Church with burial to follow in Pine Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.  The Rev. Dr. Charles Everett will officiate.

    Memorials may be made to Trinity Baptist Church or Alzheimer’s Foundation.
