Obituary of Ann Porath

CAMDEN – A service to celebrate the life of Ann Porath, 81, will be held on Monday, September 24, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Timothy’s Lutheran Church with burial to follow in the church Memorial Garden.  The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall. 

    Mrs. Porath passed away on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at KershawHealth.  Born in Neenah, Wisconsin, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Maureen Remell Christofferson.  She received her bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Marion University in Wisconsin and Law Degree from Nova Southeastern Law School in Fort Lauderdale.

    She married her husband of 59 years – Peter in Neenah, Wisconsin on Nov 28th, 1958 and they had two children. She worked as a RN at St. Agnes Hospital, later relocating to Florida and they had three more children.

    At age 43, while raising 5 children,  she attended and graduated with honors from Nova Southeastern University with a Law Degree and was admitted to the Florida Bar, where she practiced Law for 30 years .

    She also served on the United States Federal Grand Jury for two years, and worked in the Palm Beach County Family Courts.  She retired in 2011 and moved full-time to Camden where they had a vacation home.

    She loved living in Camden and volunteering to help those in need and made so many great friends. She especially enjoyed her friends at St. Timothy’s Lutheran Church, where she attended weekly with her husband.

     Surviving are her husband of 59 years, Peter Joseph Porath; children, John Porath (Sandra) of Charlotte, N.C., Christine Ragazzo (Dino) of Jacksonville, Fla., Andy Porath (Laura) of Wellington, Fla., and Michael Porath (Laurie) of Welaka, Fla.; brother, Hans Christofferson (Louise) of Sonoma, Calif.; and grandchildren, Mary Rose Christopher, Sara Christopher, Elizabeth Porath, Kaitlin Porath, Tony Porath, Gabrielle Ragazzo, Leo Ragazzo, Michael Porath, Andrew Porath and Samantha Porath.
