Obituary of Ike A. Nooe, III
CAMDEN – The Homegoing Celebration for Ike A. Nooe III, 79, will be held on Monday, September 10, at 1:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Camden with family burial in Quaker Cemetery. The Rev. John Sorrells will officiate. The family will receive friends in their home on Sunday, September 9, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the International Mission Board, 3806 Monument Avenue, Richmond, VA 23230 (memo: for the ministry of E#219873 Mitchell) or the Fine Arts Center of Kershaw County, 810 Lyttleton Street, Camden, SC 29020.
Ike passed away at home on Thursday, August 30, 2018. Born in Frankfort, KY, he was the son of the late Ike A. Nooe Jr. and Marjorie Barr Nooe. Ike graduated from Elkhorn High School, Frankfort, KY; Transylvania University (BA), Lexington, KY; and Virginia Commonwealth University (MS), Richmond, VA. He served as a tax systems administrator for the states of Kentucky, Iowa, Virginia, and South Carolina, being an active participant in designing the framework for federal/state income tax electronic filing, receiving the 1994 award for leadership and service from the Federation of Tax Administrators.
Ike demonstrated his love for music through participation in the sanctuary choir and orchestra of his church, the Community Concert Band, and Camden Community Theatre musicals; by service on the board of directors of the Fine Arts Center; and in volunteer work with the Camden Middle School band program. He is remembered by many for his hospital visitation ministry.
Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Kathryn Williamson “Katie” Nooe; daughters, Cynthia Dianne “Cindy” Mitchell (Matt) and Victoria Lynne “Vicky” Nooe; sister, Susan Nooe Mandel (Jay); grandchildren, Michael, Samuel, and Isaac Mitchell.
