Obituary of James Thurmon Branham

ELGIN – Funeral service for James Thurmon Branham, 70, will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Smyrna United Methodist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The Rev. JoAnn Lockard-Hawkins will officiate. The family will receive friends Thursday 6-8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff. Memorials may be made to Smyrna United Methodist Church, PO Box 66, Elgin, S.C. 29045. Mr. Branham died Monday, September 10, 2012. Born in Elgin, he was the son of the late Elton Grover and Marie Kelly Branham. After 27 years of service, he retired from the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Department where he served as Chief Deputy for Sheriff Hector DeBruhl and Sheriff Jerry Horton. He was a member of Smyrna United Methodist Church and enjoyed NASCAR and being outdoors. Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Margie Ross Branham; sons, James Thurmon Branham Jr. (Shannon) of Elgin, and Timothy Mark Branham (Angie) of Elgin; brothers, Floyd Branham (Belle) of Elgin and Larry Branham of Elgin; and grandchildren, Joshua Branham, Joseph Branham, Amber Branham, Cole Branham, Drake Branham, and Cheyenne Branham.
