KERSHAW – Funeral service for Joseph Benjamin Bass, 63, will be held Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. at the Potter’s House Independent Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The Rev. Abby Wheeler, the Rev. David Sellers, and the Rev. Charles Watkins will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Mr. Bass died Sunday, August 5, 2012. Born in Camden, S.C., he was the son of the late Joseph Baxter Bass and Janie Bass Price. He was a member of Pine Grove Freewill Baptist Church in Kershaw. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and being outdoors. Surviving are his wife, Mary A. Bass; son, Jonathan Bass – Lane; step-children, Doris Lydia, Timmy Kitchen (Terry), Brenda Roberts (Ken), Brian Anderson (Valerie), and Christy Lane (Brian); son-in-law, Chris Hendrix; 12 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren; nieces, Toronda Hopkins (Mike); nephew, Joe Bass (Maxine); and 1 great-great-niece. He was predeceased by a daughter, Arlene Hendrix; sister, Janie Darlene Bass; and brother, Richard “Buddy” Bass.
