CAMDEN – Funeral service for Katherine Jenkins Kirkley, 90, will be held Sunday at 5:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Sunday 4:00 – 5:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home prior to the service. Burial will be held on Monday at 11:00 a.m. in Hillcrest Gardens Cemetery, Mt. Holly, N.C. Memorials may be made to Karesh Wing at KershawHealth. Mrs. Kirkley, wife of the late James Robert Kirkley, Sr., died Friday, July 20, 2012. Born in Taylorville, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Robe and Lilly Mays Jenkins. She graduated high school in Kannapolis, N.C. and lived in Belmont, N.C. with her family most of her adult life. She was a member of Sunset Forest Baptist Church in Belmont, N.C. and enjoyed her flowers, gardening and spending time with her granddaughters and friends. Surviving are her daughter, Ellen Williams (Butch) of Camden; son, James R. Kirkley, Jr. (Phyllis) of Cassatt; granddaughters, Dina Harkey (Troy) of Charlotte, N.C., and Heather Wollard (Jason) of Yukon, Okla.; great-grandchildren, Kaleigh and Colson Wollard; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Freddie Gerald Kirkley; 2 sisters; and 2 brothers.
