ELGIN - Funeral service for Essie Gertrude Miles, 93, will be held Monday at 2:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff, with burial to follow in Highway Pentecostal Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday 4-6 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Miles died Saturday, October 20, 2007. Born in Kershaw County, she was a daughter of the late Shelton and Maggie Brazell Starling. She enjoyed quilting and fishing. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, George and Carolyn Miles of Lugoff, Knolton and Pat Miles of Ridgeway, Wilbert and Donna Miles of Leonardtown, Md., Albert and Betty Miles of Elgin, and Chris and Jackie Miles of Mt. Pleasant; sister, Mary Tate of Elgin; daughter-in-law, Lois Miles of Lugoff; son-in-law, David Richardson of Elgin; seventeen grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Carl Miles; daughter, Pauline Richardson; brother, Wesley Starling; and sisters, Callie Miles and Carrie Pate.
