LUGOFF – Funeral service for John Clayton Twitty, 85, will be held Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home with burial to follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The Rev. Richard Cameron will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association. Mr. Twitty died Friday, May 25, 2012. Born in Camden, he was the son of the late Virgil and Mary Dixon Twitty. He served in the United States Navy during WW II and retired from DuPont. He enjoyed NASCAR, fishing and gardening. He was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Leitha Jenkins Twitty; daughter, Linda Twitty Hornsby (Michael) of Lugoff and Phyllis Twitty DeBruhl (Benny) of Camden; grandchildren, Nikki DeBruhl Petiwala (Aziz), Ben DeBruhl, Adam Hornsby, and Morgan DeBruhl; sister-in-law Lillian Twitty and brother-in-law Willis J. Catoe both of Kershaw. He was predeceased by brother, J.D. Twitty; and sisters, Elizabeth Catoe and Voncille Outen. The family would like to extend thanks to Kershaw Home Health, especially Donna Newman and to Dr. McCorkle and Jenny as well as to Charles, Marie and David Amos.
