RIDGEWAY – Funeral service for Helen Virginia Dukes Thomas, 75, will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Lake Wateree Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The Rev. Ron Gregory will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall. Memorials may be made to Lake Wateree Baptist Church Building Fund. Ms. Thomas died Wednesday, April 18, 2012. Born in Quitman, Ga., she was a daughter of the late Charlie William and Minnie Sue Blalock Dukes. She was a founding member of Lake Wateree Baptist Church where she had served as church secretary, clerk and pianist. She was a member of the Eastern Star – Blythewood, SC Chapter and Valdosta, Ga. Chapter where she was a former Worthy Grand Matron. She was also a Master Gardner. Surviving are her son, Mike Thomas (Vicki) of Ridgeway; and brothers, Charlie William Dukes, Jr. (Matilda) of Quitman, Ga., and Russell Dukes (Patricia) of Jacksonville, Fla. She was predeceased by a son, Mark Thomas; and sister, Laura Mae Elswick.
