Obituary of Robert Hall Minges
LUGOFF – Funeral service with full military honors for Robert Hall Minges, 75, will be held Friday, March 16, 2012 at 12:30 p.m. at Rowan Presbyterian Church with burial to follow in Fort Jackson National Cemetery, Columbia. The Rev. Phil McCoy will officiate. The family will receive friends Friday 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Rowan Presbyterian Church.
Mr. Minges died Tuesday, March 13, 2012. Born in Gastonia, N.C., he was a son of the late William Thomas and Eva Eller Minges. He retired as Master Sergeant from the United States Air Force having served in Vietnam. He also retired from the United States Postal service after 20 years of service.
Mr. Minges was a member of Rowan Presbyterian Church and enjoyed playing tennis, gardening, sailing, and family vacations in the mountains and at the beach.
Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Margaret Alice Corbett Minges; daughters, Ann Turk (Tommy) of Madison, Miss., and Debbie Williams (Eddie) of Columbia, S.C.; sisters, Mary Minges Davis and Rachel Minges Rockett; brother, James Roger Minges and Donavan Minges; grandchildren, Trey Griffith (Amanda), Tara Griffith, Taylor Griffith, Trevor Williams, Austin Williams, and Mason Williams; great-granddaughter, Mary Ainsley Griffith; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Betty Minges Bridgeman; and brothers, William Thomas Minges Jr. and Gene Monroe Minges Sr.
