Obituary of Betty Lane Swann
CAMDEN - Funeral services for Betty Lane Swann, 79, will be held Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at Wateree Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The Rev’s Everett Reconnu and Bobby J. James Jr. will officiate. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6–8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff. Memorials may be made to Wateree Baptist Church Parsonage Fund.
Mrs. Swann, wife of the late Claude Thomas Swann Jr., died Monday, December 12, 2011. Born in Camden, she was the daughter of the late Eugene W. and Willie Blanche Lane. She was a member of Wateree Baptist Church for over 60 years, where she sang in the choir and served on numerous committees. She was a member of Camden Choral Society and Jaycees Auxiliary. She enjoyed singing, playing the piano, and traveling.
Surviving is her son, Thomas “Tommy” Swann (Wanda) of Wesley Chapel, N.C.; daughters, Ann S. Sullivan of Goldsboro, N.C., and W. Joyce Dillon (Bruce), of Irmo; grandchildren, Dan Sullivan, Andy Sullivan (Christy), Bryan Dillon, Lorie Kistler (Rev. Kenneth), and Brandon Swann (Erin); great-grandchildren, Chloe and Camden Sullivan, Katie Dillon, and Emily, Bethany and Graham Kistler; brother, Jerry K. Lane (Elizabeth) of Panama City , Fla.; and sisters, Mazie Beam and Macie Guinn of Camden, and Juanita Peavy of Hartsville. She was predeceased by a brother, George H. Lane.
