LUGOFF – Funeral service with military honors for SSG Patrick Edward Montgomery, U.S. Army (Ret’d), 63, will be held Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home with burial to follow in Fort Jackson National Cemetery. The Rev. Dr. Mark Bredholt will officiate. The family will receive friends Wednesday 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Tri-County or any local veteran’s organization. Mr. Montgomery died Sunday, November 27, 2011 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Princeville, Ill., he was the son of the late Walter M. and Helen L. Hopper Montgomery. He retired from the United States Army and served in Vietnam. He was a member of the VFW and was an avid NASCAR fan. Surviving are his wife, Barbara Ann Watt Montgomery; son, Jason Edward Montgomery; daughter, Rebekah Joanne Montgomery; brother, Scott K. Montgomery; and a grandchild. He was predeceased by brothers, Walter W. Montgomery Jr. and Michael D. Montgomery.
