Obituary of William E. Wagner
CAMDEN – A celebration of life service for William Ernest Wagner, 66 will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Lyttleton Street United Methodist Church. The Rev. Steve Patterson and the Rev. David Weaver Sr. will officiate. The family will receive friends Wednesday 6-8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lyttleton Street United Methodist Church, Lutheran Hospice or the Alzheimer’s Association.
Mr. Wagner died Monday, October 31, 2011. Born in Glen Ridge, N.J., he was a son of the late Ernest Merle Wagner and Mayme Naomi Chapman Wagner. He served in the United States Air Force. He received an Associate’s Degree in Boston, Mass. and worked as a computer analyst for over 30 years.
Mr. Wagner was a member of Lyttleton Street United Methodist Church where he was very active in the work of the church and was a member of the Aldersgate Sunday School Class. He worked with the Habitat for Humanity, Summer Salkehatchie, Boy Scouts, W.A.R.M. and was a basketball coach. He was past president of the Camband Club.
Surviving are his wife of 24 years, Valerie Cecile Luscombe Wagner; daughters, Amber Rider (Troy) of Camden and Ashley Lowman (Philip) of Jacksonville, Fla.; brother, Richard Wagner (Connie); sisters, Joan Beim, Janet Youngster (Henry), and Linda Luxton (Peter); and grandchildren, Isabella Rider and William Rider. He was predeceased by a sister, Verna Sorber; and brothers-in-law, Al Sorber and Mitchell Beim.
