CAMDEN – A memorial service for Sara Rhodus Mayer, 80, will be held Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. at Lyttleton Street United Methodist Church. The Rev. Frank Griffith and the Rev. Steve Patterson will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service in the family life center. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Camden/Kershaw County Rescue Squad. Mrs. Mayer died Friday, September 2, 2011. Born in Camden, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Leila Davis Rhodus. She retired from Holland and Dubose Law Firm. She was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, BPW Business Professional Women, and volunteered at KershawHealth. She was a member of Lyttleton Street UMC and the Friendship Sunday School Class. Surviving are her husband of 59 years, Jimmie Stewart Mayer; daughters, Donna Mayer Wideman of Kinston, N.C. and Sharon Mayer Price and her husband, Bobby of Goldsboro, N.C.; 3 grandchildren, Zachary Wideman and his wife, Lauren, Harrison Wideman, and Taylor Price; a great-grandchild, Henry Wideman; brother, Bill Rhodus and his wife, Rita; and sisters, Mary Loden, Maggie Canter, and Barbara Curtis. She was predeceased by a brother, Robert Rhodus.
